Age
Volunteers are required, by regulations, to be a minimum of 14 years of age. Some departments have other age requirements - for example to be assigned on a patient care unit a volunteer must be at least 16 years old.
Health Screening
All applicants must provide documentation of:
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine
- Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine or history
- Flu vaccine (in season)
- Tuberculosis test completed within the last 12 months
Time
Volunteers must commit to the minimum required volunteer time:
- Teens: must complete at least 48 hours and volunteer during at least 6 of the 8 weeks of the summer program
- Adults: 3 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months
Grades and References
Teens must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and will be required to provide two written references
Uniform
Volunteers will be provided with a uniform that they must wear while volunteering in accordance with the Dress Code policy.
