Bloodless Center

In 1996, Hartford Hospital became the first hospital in Connecticut to implement bloodless medicine and surgery techniques.

Hartford Hospital has adopted the most effective and aggressive techniques to reduce the need for blood replacement in all our patients and meet the needs of the community we serve. These include all patients with religious and personal beliefs regarding blood transfusions. Furthermore, published clinical evidence demonstrates that bloodless methods cause lower surgical morbidity and mortality.

The Program

Dr. Randy Edwards, Director of the Bloodless Medicine Center, with the support of the Surgical Outpatient Staff in the Medical Office Building located at 85 Seymour Street, Suite 601, sees patients for consultation on Friday mornings.

The Bloodless Surgery Center further solidifies the role of Hartford Hospital as a leader in this field. If you need prompt information or have a question please contact Dr. Edwards at  860.825.0639.
