The Program
As only one of two centers existing in New England, the Cholesterol Management Center is a major participant in many studies of new cholesterol treatments and is the only center in Connecticut to offer LDL-apheresis.
Participants are treated by specialists in dyslipidemia (cholesterol disorder) with medication, dietary modifications or a combination of both treatments.
The Cholesterol Management Center offers:
- Complete lipid profiling
- Assessment of other risk factors for heart disease
- Dietary counseling
- Exercise recommendations
- Medication prescription when necessary
- Management of underlying thyroid or diabetic disease
- LDL-Apheresis
