Collaborative Care Teams of Certified Experts

Your collaborative care team includes orthopedic joint reconstruction surgeons certified by the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) as well as the expertise of specialists including musculoskeletal radiologists, anesthesiologists, rheumatologists, orthopedic oncologists, physical medicine specialists and pain management specialists. Together we find comprehensive solutions to even the most complex orthopedic cases referred here from throughout the region. Many of our physicians are part of the largest orthopedic specialty group in Connecticut.

A Complete Continuum of Attentive Orthopedic Care

Our goal is the same as yours: to get you back to your normal activities as quickly, safely, and painlessly as possible. What makes the Bone & Joint Institute an outstanding place to get your orthopedic care? Your needs drive our approach to treatment, and dedicated orthopedic specialists run the hospital. We’ve designed the best ways to care for orthopedic problems into everything we do at the Bone & Joint Institute, right down to the structure of our new building, which opened Jan. 9, 2017.

Collaborative Interdisciplinary Teams

You’re cared for by an interdisciplinary team of leading orthopedic specialists and expert sub-specialists. You get a comprehensive view of the best treatment options for your orthopedic problem: the latest protocols, the most promising surgical techniques, and the fastest route to recovery.

Everyone on your treatment team specializes in orthopedics and collaborates to deliver top quality care – from diagnosis to surgery through rehabilitation and recovery. Your doctors, nurses, case coordinators and physical therapists are all thoroughly equipped and specially trained to ensure excellent care and keep you comfortable.

Dedication to Safety & Quality Outcomes

Our orthopedic specialists are driven to constantly improve protocols of patient care, safety and quality across our entire network. We use a sophisticated database to track every orthopedic procedure and validate its outcome for patients over time. This information shows us how well people got back to their life’s activities, so we know which treatments are proving to be most effective.

Our teams meet consistently to make improvements that avoid clinical complications and advance the best results for people. This culture of quality and process improvement also extends to how we run our operations using Lean Management principles.

Thorough Preparation for Surgical Procedures

We make sure you are physically and mentally ready for surgery before any orthopedic procedure. Our unique PREPARE program educates you completely about what to expect before, during and after orthopedic surgery. You’ll have a thorough pre-anesthesia risk evaluation, plenty of time for questions, and all the individualized care and attention you need.

We do everything we can to make your orthopedic surgery experience easier, starting with complimentary valet parking. When you enter the Bone & Joint Institute’s pre-operative suite, right away you are under the care of dedicated staff thoroughly trained in the most advanced orthopedic technologies, techniques and treatments.

An Extensive Network of Care Providers

Our system includes a vast and closely knit community of care providers and partners. A comprehensive rehabilitation network provides any level of care you need, all within our own healthcare system. This might be help transitioning to home through Hartford Healthcare at Home’s services or through a member of our post-acute care network. Additional services to transition to home are available through our care partners, Hartford Healthcare Rehabilitation Services and Hartford Healthcare Senior Services.

Seamless communication helps us ensure a collaborative approach to your care across our system. Each of your care providers always has the most current information on your treatment, so they can focus on next steps to get you back in motion.
