Stroke Center | Telehealth Network

Hartford Hospital's Telehealth Network (HHTN) brings world-class emergency stroke and critical neurology care to hospitals that may lack 24/7 on-call neurologists or that want to strengthen their current primary stroke care services.

As an extension of our award-winning Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, the network provides stroke and neurology consultative services through the application of advanced telemedicine technology on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. In addition, the network will respond to any neurological condition and guarantees to respond within 15 minutes of the initial call made to one of the network’s stroke/neurology specialists. Through the telehealth network, hospitals can optimize their communication channels, enhance their collaborative efforts and connect as never before, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right place at the right time.

NeuroCall

We have partnered with NeuroCall, an organization of board-certified, specialty trained community and university neurologists to provide high-quality specialized care when needed. Neurocall’s physicians have an average of 12 years of experience and have provided more than thousands of consults for neurological emergencies. Furthermore, their experience in critical stroke care proves to be a significant advantage in determining if the clot-busting drug tPA should be administered and be part of the patient’s treatment. This is important as the tPA drug must be administered within a 3-4.5 hour window from the onset of initial stroke symptoms.

Network Components

Providing support for emergency care is only one component of the HHTN program, which also includes rapid access to consultation for patients with conditions such as aneurysms, brain tumors, concussions, epilepsy and other conditions that can affect the head and spine. The HHTN program also provides stroke treatment training at participating hospitals and stroke prevention outreach to the communities they serve.

Coming Soon

Hartford Hospital strives to continuously serve its vision of becoming a national leader in offering 24/7 emergency teleneurology services. Additional service lines will be added to the network in the future in order to offer robust and comprehensive telemedicine solutions to all of our partnering hospitals.
