Behavioral Health

Your body and mind work together in complex and surprising ways to deliver the performance you expect. Clinical health psychologists understand the mental, emotional and social factors that can affect a person’s health and physical well-being.

The Clinical Psychologist can provide strategies to address emotional challenges, improve health behaviors, cope with pain, better manage chronic illness and help people prepare for surgical procedures by addressing modifiable risk factors in order to improve surgical outcomes. The team also provides sports psychology services. Sports psychology isn’t only available when there’s an obvious issue that needs to be solved.

Clinical Psychologists can help athletes cope with the pressures of competition, maintain a rigorous training regimen and develop mental strategies like relaxation and visualization.

Consultations may lead to psychological counseling and support for:

  • Smoking cessation
  • Weight management
  • Pain management
  • Traumatic Stress (PTSD)
  • Adjustment to Injury
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Visualization and performance improvement/optimization for sport
  • Motivation and readiness to return sport post injury

The Clinical Psychologist is available to discuss cases and provide on-site consultation and treatment. The team can also facilitate educational or group programs that address topics of interest in behavioral health.
