The Department of Medicine at Hartford Hospital is the largest department at the hospital, with 15 different divisions, outpatient, inpatient, and transitional care clinical services, as well as several residency and fellowship training programs. While the breadth and impact of our work is large and far reaching, we are all united under our common mission and vision.
The Department of Medicine at Hartford Hospital strives for excellence in patient care, research, education, and provider sustainability by:
- Providing compassionate, thoughtful, high value and safe care for our patients, families, and community
- Designing, leading, and participating in quality improvement and research to optimize clinical outcomes and patient experience
- Preparing and inspiring the clinicians of the future via mentorship, support, and innovative training in internal medicine
- Developing and supporting initiatives designed to enhance physician and advanced practice provider recruitment, sustainability and fulfillment as well as a diverse, inclusive workforce.
The department has an ‘A’ rating and honors as the only ‘Top Teaching Hospital’ in Connecticut by the Leapfrog Group. Our graduates serve in key clinical roles around the country. Our research footprint is growing and we continue to study and work towards becoming a more equitable healthcare system.
