The Department of Medicine at Hartford Hospital is one of the lead teaching sites for the University of Connecticut Internal Medicine Training Program.

We have 6 primary medicine teams rounding on our floor and SDU units and 2 critical care teams, one in our Medical Intensive Care Unit and one in our Cardiac Critical Care Unit. We have 9 dedicated inpatient teaching faculty with varied interests to include point of care ultrasound, healthcare disparities, quality and safety and healthcare leadership.

The Department of Medicine also hosts one of the larger residency teaching clinics for the University of Connecticut Internal Medicine Training program as well at the Adult Primary Care Clinic at 132 Jefferson Street. With 5 dedicated outpatient teaching faculty, we host 40 residents as primary care providers to the underserved population of the Greater Hartford area. Their interests include but not limited to point of care ultrasound, population health, quality and safety and healthcare disparities.

In addition, we host an incredible variety of subspecialty elective opportunities as well as advanced subspecialties such as heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and transplant infectious disease to name a few.
