Overview
In our division, providers provide care for critically ill patients admitted to two medical ICUs and the medical step-down unit in addition to staffing our consultative services within Hartford Hospital. Our providers also manage and clinically oversee operations in the outpatient Cystic Fibrosis program, pulmonary laboratory, pulmonary rehabilitation services, sleep laboratory and respiratory services.
The team offers Bronchoscopy services in the critically ill as well as elective OP Bronchoscopy services on site at Hartford Hospital. On a more specialized level, they offer Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) services for patients with certain pulmonary pathologies.
The physicians in this division provider 7x24x365 services to all the critically ill patients at Hartford Hospital. They are the primary attendings for patients admitted to the MICU and medical stepdown unit and as consultants for scores of patients in surgical and neurology critical care units and the medical/surgical floors.
The Advanced Practitioner team for the Medical ICU and stepdown unit, is a group of 33 staff members that currently work to cover a 16-bed intensive care unit as well as a 21-bed stepdown unit. The team works collaboratively with the intensivist to provide direction patient care to those whom are critically ill, and hope to soon cover the emergency department as a consult service for stepdown admission as well as the above two units.
