The Most Specialized Bone Cancer Treatment
The Bone & Joint Institute has one of the few fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic oncologists in Connecticut. With this highly specialized training we offer an extraordinary level of care for people with bone cancer.
Our orthopedic oncology service treats primary bone cancers (osteosarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma and chondrosarcoma), metastatic bone tumors (multiple myeloma and lymphoma), benign bone tumors and soft tissue tumors, and malignant soft tissue tumors of the extremities and pelvis.
Collaborative Care with a Sloan-Kettering Affiliate
We work closely with the team at The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital, which is part of Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Cancer Alliance. Our collaborative care approach means your treatment team includes medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and plastics surgeons. You also have the full resources of the Bone & Joint Institute working toward your recovery from bone cancer, including pain-management experts and integrated musculoskeletal rehabilitation therapists.
Outstanding Imaging Services Guide Limb-Sparing Surgeries
With advanced 3D imaging, we are able to perform the most precise computer-navigated surgeries for tumors in difficult surgical locations. Our outstanding radiology team is critical to making the most accurate diagnoses and intricately understanding how tumors are related to the local anatomy. Crafting a precise surgical approach together, we can often turn a potential amputation into a limb salvage surgery. We always strive to preserve as much native bone structure as possible for bone cancer patients.
