Hartford Hospital’s Hernia Center features a team of experienced professionals performing groin, abdominal, umbilical and incisional hernia repairs, based on each patient’s individual needs. Our surgeons are members of Hartford Specialists, formerly Connecticut Surgical Group, who are well-known for innovative surgical procedures.
All center surgeons are board-certified and fellowship-trained and take a dynamic approach to treatment by selecting the best method for each patient, using the latest treatments in hernia surgery for the best recovery experience possible.
Our multidisciplinary team includes six general surgeons and a dedicated plastic surgery team. We perform more than 1,000 hernia surgeries annually, using the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery and prosthetic materials. These techniques are designed to not only allow you to return to everyday activities more quickly with minimum work restriction, but also to give you the assurance of attaining the safest, most-effective hernia repair available today.

Hernia surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis for inguinal and small ventral hernias, with more complex incisional hernias requiring an individualized approach. Discomfort following surgery should be minimal and you should be able to return to normal activities soon.
We will ensure that all questions about your surgery will be fully answered so that you can easily understand the procedure and your post-operation instructions.
