Hartford Hospital, CT is proud to offer this 12 month fellowship dedicated to preparing individuals for a career in the field of obesity medicine.
Goals and objectives for training
The design of the fellowship is to train physicians who are capable of practicing obesity medicine in a variety of clinical settings.
The fellow will be trained in a multimodal weight management clinic consisting of obesity medicine specialists, bariatric surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered dieticians, and behavioral health psychologists. Fellows will train under a preceptorship model.
Throughout the fellowship, fellows are expected to take an active role in attending and presenting at conferences, lectures, and providing research presentations to the clinical team. Fellows participate in at least one obesity-related research project overseen by a faculty research mentor during the fellowship.
Prerequisite training & selection criteria
Completion of an ACGME Residency program. Preferred Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Preventative Medicine.
Applicants are selected based on Curriculum Vitae, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement outlining your individual and unique interest in the field of Obesity Medicine including how you plan to contribute to further advance the field.
Duration
The obesity medicine fellowship program is designed as a 12-month fellowship program from July through June.
