What attracted you to Hartford Hospital Residency Program? Being a New Orleanian native, I was eager to experience pharmacy practice in the Northeast and gain exposure to a different healthcare environment. I was immediately drawn to Hartford Hospital by the wide variety of rotations offered and its distinction as a level-one trauma center. I also appreciated the opportunity to mentor APPE students as I participated in a similar longitudinal experience as a student. During my interview, I was impressed by the welcoming and supportive atmosphere created by both the preceptors and staff. Everyone was very friendly and were enthusiastic in both asking and answering questions. I was able to have meaningful conversations with the preceptors and felt connected to them. Additionally, the size of the residency class was very important to me. Having five co-residents provides me with the chance to form a close-knit community and to build lifelong friendships while navigating the challenges of residency together.

What attracted you to Hartford Hospital Residency Program? I completed two APPE rotations here as a P4 student, and I was impressed by both the preceptors and the positive culture within the pharmacy department. The preceptors I met were incredibly skilled and enthusiastic to teach within their areas of practice. The emphasis on the program’s critical care rotations is what stood out to me the most. There are five ICU rotations with clinical specialists that will help to ensure my understanding of the medication therapies. Additionally, practicing at a Level 1 Trauma Center will bring in intricate cases that will help expand my knowledge. It was important for me to have a well-rounded curriculum and this program offers multiple ambulatory care rotations, a pain management rotation, and a solid organ transplant rotation. Having a plethora of options to choose from, distinguished preceptors, and the flexibility of changing rotations based on my evolving interests is what highlights Hartford Hospital’s residency program.
